EDUCATE Project - Marketing and Communications Officer

Part Time: 21.9 hours per week (60% FTE)

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £34,635 - £41,864 per annum , inclusive of London Allowance.

The post holder will work as part of the EDUCATE project within the department of Culture, Communication and Media, UCL Institute of Education and will be located in the UCL Knowledge Lab. The UCL Knowledge Lab is a leading interdisciplinary research centre on digital research and design in education whose mission it is to understand and to develop digital technologies to support and transform education, and beyond. The UCL Knowledge Lab brings together experts with imagination and insight from across different disciplinary backgrounds to:

  1. Undertake cutting edge research on digital media and technologies;
  2. Provide an innovative and exciting interdisciplinary range of postgraduate courses;
  3. Create empowering technologies for communication and learning that lower the barriers to knowledge and widen access; and
  4. Incubate enterprise and achieve impact via partnerships with public sector, business and industry.

Working with the marketing and communications officers at EDUCATE partners F6S and BESA to develop and implement the EDUCATE marketing and communications strategy. The post holder will review and implement the EDUCATE communications strategy covering PR, social media, internal and external communications as well as developing content and PR campaigns to support EDUCATE’s PR efforts aimed at increasing media mentions and brand awareness and assessing potential of new ways of communicating and engaging with target audiences.

With proven experience in a marketing and/or public relations role and/or journalism, you will have excellent communication and writing skills and excellent knowledge of the education system and the issues facing 21st century schools. You will be able to work flexibly and to adapt to the requirements of the role.

This post is funded until 31st December 2020 in the first instance.
