Lectureship in Modern Gender and/or Race History

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7-8. The salary range will be Grade 7 (£38,581 - £41,864) / Grade 8 (£43,023 - £50,753), inclusive of London Allowance.

Applications are invited for a full-time lecturership in the 'Modern Gender and/or Race History' tenable from 1st September 2018. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding historian working on the history of gender or race in the modern period. We welcome applications from historians working on any aspect of the modern history of race or gender, or indeed on the intersection of, and relationship between, race and gender. For the purposes of this position preference might be shown for scholars for whom 'modern' history relates to the period since 1850, but we do not have a particular preference in terms of geographical expertise, and would welcome applications from candidates who might either consolidate or supplement our existing global coverage. S/he will be expected to research and publish material of the highest quality; to offer inspiring teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and to play a full part in the life of the History Department.

Applicants must have a doctorate in the relevant area; at least one outstanding research publication; an imaginative post-doctoral research project; and experience of teaching in a university History department, preferably at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
