About the opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a continuing standard academic appointment in Animal Science.

The special skills required of the position lie in the area of Animal physiology and anatomy although candidates with a strong background in mammalian animal science with training in the relevant disciplines will be considered.

We are looking for a Lecturer in Animal Science who will make a significant contribution to the delivery of undergraduate student teaching in the broad theme of Animal Science. In particular, the appointee will: 

  • Coordinate a unit of study (ANSC3104 Animal Structure and Function B).
  • Develop curriculum content in animal veterinary and bioscience.
  • Deliver content in the field of animal physiology and/or animal anatomy in units ANSC3103 and ANSC3104 (Animal Structure and Function A, Animal Structure and Function B).
  • Deliver related content in other units as required by the Faculty.
  • Lead a high quality independent research program that is aligned with the strategy of the School of Life and Environmental Sciences within the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney.
  • Supervise research and coursework higher degree students.

About you

  • Bachelor of science/Graduate or Postgraduate Veterinary Science/Graduate or Postgraduate Biomedical Science or equivalent.
  • PhD.
  • Ability to deliver lecture content in mammalian physiology and/or anatomy including ruminant and marsupial anatomy/physiology.
  • Proven capacity for research.
  • Proven track record of teaching in the higher education sector.

Desirable Criteria are:

  • Outstanding research track record relative to opportunity.
  • Strong industry or collaborative links.
  • Experience in research higher degree supervision.
  • Capacity to secure research funding.
