Laboratory Assistants

The Departments of Biology & Biochemistry and Chemistry are two of the largest and most successful in the University.

Underpinning the success of their teaching and research endeavours is the work of our laboratory assistants.

Laboratory assistants are members of a small team that provides general support for our students, academics and other staff. The range of duties can include collecting glassware and other materials for washing or sterilisation. Supplying basic laboratory materials, assisting in the setting-up and clearing away of practical classes, cleaning laboratory benches and distribution of various materials and supplies.

Full training will be provided in all aspects of the post. An interest in Science would be useful, but is not essential.

Effective time-management skills and having a flexible approach to work are essential.
