About the DI:

The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) seeks applications for faculty position at Masters of Science program in Psychology. We seek Clinical Psychologists from a broad range of specializations, but preference will be given to those whose work focuses on culture, community intervention, and women and children.

Founded in Doha, Qatar and launching its first academic year in 2015, the DI is a non-profit and independent institute that responds to the needs of the Arab region by integrating graduate teaching and learning with scientific research in the fields of Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, Humanities, Public Administration, and Development Economics. The DI is licensed as a national institution of higher education by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar.

The mission of the Psychology program is “to train world-class academics through equipping students with a strong research foundation and the professional skills necessary to understand human behavior and to apply new knowledge, tools, and research to the solution of individual, societal, and organizational problems, particularly in Qatar and the Arab region. It also seeks to raise the level and quality of Arab scholarly contributions to the field of psychology and to prepare graduates for the unique challenges associated with today’s increasingly global, diverse, and shifting societies.”

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must have: (1) earned a doctorate in clinical psychology; (2) ideally one year of internship and practice; (3) the capacity to teach and supervise at the graduate level; (4) published scholarly work in refereed peer-reviewed journals commensurate with his/her academic rank; and (5) a demonstrated ability to conduct research and offer services in diverse communities. Although not required, preference will be given to those who have a good command of the Arabic language and/or a strong interest in research and practice in the Arab world.


The successful applicants should be able to teach in a minimum of two substantive areas: ethics, psychopathology (child or adult), clinical assessment, biological bases of psychopathology (neuropsychology), and clinical intervention, as well as more specialized courses in culture, community development, special populations (due to war, poverty, or displacement). Applicants also should serve in intra and inter disciplinary teaching, research, and related activities, such as academic advisement, field instructions, and supervision of students’ thesis projects.
