Head of Operations - National Biofilms Innovation Centre

The contract of employment will be with the University of Southampton on behalf of the NBIC Consortium and the post will require frequent travel to other NBIC sites and to stakeholders.

The newly awarded National Biofilms Innovation Centre (NBIC) is a BBSRC and Innovate UK-funded Innovation and Knowledge Centre (IKC). The NBIC consortium comprises four leading Russell Group research institutions (Southampton, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Nottingham) and a wider partnership of (currently 14) collaborating institutions across the UK. Through its national and international collaborative networks, and industry base of >60 partnering companies comprising SMEs through to large multinationals, NBIC will create a fusion of world-class research and industry to deliver breakthrough technologies in the control and exploitation of biofilms. 

The Head of Operations role will take the lead role in all operational aspects of the NBIC consortium to ensure the delivery of its scientific and translational strategy.The post holder will develop and manage external relationships with academic and commercial partners, overseeing all budgetary aspects, and the delivery of funded projects. They will lead the NBIC Operational Management Group and line manage a team of Industry Collaboration Managers, Communications staff, plus finance and IP/Contracts officers within NBIC to ensure the strategic priorities of the consortium and project deliverables are met.

The successful individual will establish and maintain highly effective relationships/strategic partnerships with key internal stakeholders, funding agencies, and companies to promote activities and initiatives that assist the consortium achieve its vision and mission.
