Salary: Grade 8 (Lecturer): £39,992 - £47,722 per annum with potential to progress to £53,691 through sustained exceptional contribution. Grade 9 (Senior Lecturer/Reader): £50,618 - £56,950 per annum with potential to progress to £65,997 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader in Verification at the University of Sheffield, a world top 100 University.

The Department of Computer Science is seeking to appoint outstanding scholars with expertise in the field of hardware and software verification. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • The verification of weak or transactional memory systems; 
  • The verification of concurrent systems; 
  • The verification of hybrid or cyberphysical systems; 
  • Quantitative verification methods (for example with probabilistic or stochastic features); 
  • Development of verification tools (with interactive theorem provers, SMT solvers, model checkers); 
  • Type-based program verification.

You will hold a PhD in Computer Science or a related area, and be able to conduct research to the highest standards. You will secure research funding, publish in high impact journals, supervise research students and manage research projects. As a teacher, you will play a key role in maintaining our reputation for high-quality teaching by designing, delivering and assessing undergraduate and postgraduate-level courses in verification and other core topics in computer science.
