Data Scientist / Senior Data Scientist


Imanova Limited (part of Invicro LLC) is a translational imaging company located on the Hammersmith Hospital / Imperial College London site in West London. Imanova operates a world-leading clinical imaging centre with state-of-the-art PET and MRI technology used to support medical and pharmaceutical research. Imanova was acquired by Invicro LLC in August 2017, and is now a part of the Konika Minolta group.

We are looking to recruit a Data Scientist or Senior Data Scientist to contribute to the ongoing success of the company by leading imaging data science projects and activities. The level of appointment will be dependent on relevant experience.

As data are acquired from our onsite scanners (2x PET/CT, 2x MRI, 1x PET/MR) and across the wider Invicro organisation, it is envisioned that the successful candidate will have experience of working with medical imaging data in an R&D environment, such as having previously been part of an academic imaging research group. However, those with other potentially relevant backgrounds will also be considered.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Driving data science activities at the London site and collaborating with analysts across the wider organisation
  • Maximising the utility of data and data-related capabilities at the company for internal quality control and methodology development as well as potential business opportunities
  • Leading the specification and development of new IT and data systems and software to meet evolving internal and external data science needs
  • Publish imaging data research internally through writing reports and giving presentations, and externally through publication in high-quality scientific journals and presentation at international conferences
  • Maintaining knowledge of and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) relevant to imaging data management and analysis
  • Managing imaging and associated data generated through their full life cycle
  • Defining and enforcing rigorous data-quality standards, and data management procedures
  • Ensuring the secure and timely transfer of imaging and ancillary data in and out of the company
  • Acting as an interface between the company and its clients maintaining a high-level of data integrity
  • Ensuring that data are made available to commercial and academic clients within defined timelines

Essential experience required:

  • Significant experience in data analysis
  • Advanced data and IT skills, to include:
    • Significant experience with both Windows and Linux systems
    • Development of bespoke software, including scripting in Linux and use of modern programming languages
    • Experience with at least one of the following: MATLAB, Python, R, Java, C++, Perl, Julia

Experience with all or some of the following will be advantageous:

  • Thorough understanding of medical imaging IT, including the DICOM standard
  • Experience of working with MRI or PET data
  • Experience in the design and implementation of bespoke data management architectures
  • Familiarity with GCP and its application to medical imaging data
  • Machine learning on image data or associated computer vision techniques
  • A postgraduate degree in the physical or life sciences
