Postdoctoral Research Fellow

University of Reading - Food and Nutritional Sciences

This role provides an excellent opportunity to work across a number of EIT (European Institute of Innovation and Technology) Food projects as part of the University of Reading’s new Institute of Food, Nutrition and Health. EIT Food is a unique partnership of over 50 leading companies, universities, and scientific partners covering the entire food value chain who are working together to transform the way in which we produce, distribute and consume food throughout Europe to improve consumer confidence and health.

Under the direction of the Principal Investigators, the appointee will develop and deliver projects within EIT Food’s Communication and Education strands. Your role will be to build productive and effective working relationships with academic, administrative, business and research colleagues within the University and with other EIT Food partners, as well as to support the preparation and development of new projects.

You will have:

  • PhD in a relevant field (this could include, for example, consumer science, applied psychology, food science, nutrition, agriculture) and a strong interest in the food industry.
  • Ability to measure project performance and provide regular project updates.
  • Ability to assess, interpret and evaluate outcomes of projects.
  • Experience of teaching and learning delivery in Higher Education.
  • A proven ability in writing scientific papers and evidence of publication in peer reviewed journals.
  • The ability to carry out food industry analysis and to write literature reviews.
  • Good communication and writing skills.
  • Good team-working and interpersonal skills developing productive working relationships with colleagues within and beyond the University.
