Academic Registry and Student Services has a vacancy for an Admissions Assistant in the Student Recruitment and Admissions Office (SRAO), based in the Palatine Centre in Durham City, to play an important role in supporting admissions to the University. The Admissions Assistant works in a team to ensure the timely processing of admissions decisions, communication to applicants and the flow of application information between different sections of the University.

The role involves using, sometimes complex, criteria to make decisions and to identify the next course of action. A significant proportion of the role will require the completion of high levels of detailed data entry and on occasion, under significant time pressure. The post holder will be required to answer a high volume of enquiries from internal and external sources, in a professional and customer- focussed manner whilst maintaining accuracy in this detailed work.

The post-holder will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm towards ongoing business-change within the admissions processes and within the Student Recruitment and Admissions Office more broadly, and will work flexibly, adapting quickly to change and contributing ideas for continuous improvement.

The Admissions Assistant is expected to be involved in activities from across the wider office, for example August Confirmation, Pre- Application Open Days, UCAS fairs, etc. which will, on occasion, involve working additional hours.

The post is offered on a fixed term basis. It is available immediately with a finish date of 30 September 2018.
