Full-Time Fixed Term Contract for 5 years from 1st March 2018.

An exciting opportunity exists to join Professor David Haddleton’s research group as a Senior Research Fellow. The Senior Research Fellow will enjoy access to all of the world-class equipment and infrastructure available within the Warwick Polymer Group, the Chemistry Department and across the University. The Fellow will be expected to take an active role in participating and leading the research programs across the group working in Polymers for personal care, agrochemicals, oil recovery, OPV’s, lubricants, transdermal delivery, bioconjugation, inks, coatings, etc. The Fellow will also be expected to make independent grant applications and to initiate their own research portfolio as well as taking a lead role in high impact publications and activities.

You will have a PhD or equivalent in Chemistry with a strong background in synthetic polymer chemistry and the associated analytical methods. Previous postdoctoral experience, and experience of managing junior group members on a range of projects, is essential. You will undertake experimental work within the group, help manage the day-to-day running of the research group, assist in the training of new researchers, help with project and financial management, grant and manuscript writing, liaise with collaborators, etc.

Additionally, you will be given the opportunity to contribute to teaching in the department by delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate lectures, tutorials and workshops, and by supporting the teaching of practical chemistry. You will also have the opportunity to follow a University of Warwick teaching qualification as offered on our academic probation program. This post is especially suitable for individuals who wish to establish their own independent research programmes in the short term.
