Finance Officer

The faculty is looking for a Finance Officer to join its finance team to work alongside the Management Accountant carrying out financial duties in relation to provision and analysis of management accounting information and to provide support and regular contact with budget holders. This role will be working across all departments in the faculty to provide a high standard of customer service while upholding financial procedures and processes. This is a permanent, full time role based at the Headington campus.

The post holder will be:

  • Assisting the Management Accountant in the provision of financial information; including preparation and distribution of monthly monitoring reports and financial summaries for meetings with budget holders
  • Support the Management Accountant and budget holders in the preparation of budgets and supporting information
  • Provide regular forecasting information to the Management Accountant and budget holders on accounts as directed
  • Maintain accurate financial records and monitor and investigate faculty accounts as directed and assist with year-end reconciliations
  • Review with the Management Accountant on an on-going basis the account and activity code structure, recommending improvements to improve the quality and contents of reporting
  • Processing orders and invoices, travel claims, credit card accounts, and ad-hoc payment requests.

You should have:

  • Strong Maths and English, written and spoken
  • Substantial financial administration experience in a large and complex organization
  • Demonstrable experience of the use of excel and word including the ability to reconcile accounts
  • Time Management and organisational skills, including ability to meet deadlines
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • An ability to interpret and communicate complex financial data with both finance colleagues and those without a finance background.
