Research Consulting is a values-led, professional research consultancy, partnering regionally, nationally and globally with public institutions, not-for-profits and commercial providers to improve the effectiveness and impact of research and scholarly communication.

We are looking to recruit an Associate Director to help take the company to the next level. This key strategic role will be responsible for identifying and landing client opportunities, whilst creating research insights and writing impactful reports.

Reporting to the Director, you will lead a small, dynamic team of professional researchers and associates. You will deliver a range of projects aiming to improve the effectiveness and impact of research, scholarly communication and knowledge exchange. You will take responsibility for developing your own network of contacts and building long-term partnerships.

Role Description

You will be working at senior level within the areas of research and scholarly communication. You will, therefore, have a proven track record of applying consultancy skills and/or social research techniques for a range of different audiences within the professional and research communities.

You will be responsible for preparing reports, presenting at relevant conferences, and writing thought leadership pieces to position the business as an authority within the field. You will have direct responsibility for our outputs, which you will deliver either independently or through collaborations with team members and other professionals. As Associate Director, you will be at the forefront of identifying and nurturing senior client relationships, whilst contributing to the company’s business strategy and building our brand reputation.

You will take the lead in shaping your own unique role within our team, delivering valued insights to solve our clients' issues. You will also have direct line management responsibility for team members and will motivate them to raise their collective capability to deliver effectively within their role and exceed clients’ expectations. Essential requirements for this position are as follows:

  • Masters level qualification or above
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong personal drive
  • Curiosity
  • Commercial awareness
  • Knowledge of one or more of our client communities (research management, academic publishing, and knowledge exchange).
