Lecturer in Mathematical Finance

We are seeking an outstanding candidate for the role of Lecturer in Mathematical Finance, to further enhance our research and teaching in this area. You will be joining a vibrant, supportive and international community. The latest National Student Survey placed our Department number one in the Russell Group on a variety of measures, including overall satisfaction.

The main duties and responsibilities of the role are:

  • To develop research objectives, projects and proposals and carry out individual or collaborative research projects.
  • To lead on and/or contribute to the production of research outputs and research outcomes.
  • To design, develop and deliver teaching across a wide range of modules and/or within a particular programme or subject area.
  • To undertake effectively a range of administrative and managerial responsibilities.

You will have a PhD, or equivalent professional experience, in Mathematical Finance. You should also hold an appropriate academic professional and teaching qualification or a willingness to complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice.

You will have extensive specialist knowledge in your subject area, to design, develop & deliver teaching to students in the Department of Mathematics, and to complement and enhance the department's research strategy and goals with publicly evidenced, high-quality research. You will be able to evidence your ability to disseminate your research findings at conferences and other appropriate events.

You will be able to provide learning support to students and have knowledge of a range of teaching and research techniques & methodologies. You will have experience of taking responsibility for teaching and learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and of successful course planning, design and delivery.

You will have the ability to develop research objectives, projects and proposals and have well-developed analytical skills.

You will have advanced and specialist IT knowledge and highly developed communication skills to engage with a wide ranging audience using a range of media. You will have the ability to supervise the work of others, for example as an MSc, PhD or postdoctoral supervisor.

The post is full time (37 hours a week) on an open contract and salary will be in the range £38,832 - £47,722 a year.
