STRiDE Research Officer (2 years)

London School of Economics and Political Science - Personal Social Services Research Unit

The Personal Social Services Research Unit (PSSRU) is a research centre at the LSE. PSSRU, along with partners at the Universities of Cape Town and Sussex, has recently been awarded funding from Research Council UK’s Global Challenges Research Fund to strengthen responses to dementia in seven middle-income countries. The STRiDE project involves a consortium of partners from these seven countries as well as partnerships with Alzheimer’s Disease International and Dementia Alliance International.

PSSRU is seeking to appoint a full-time Research Officer to start in February/March 2018 to undertake systematic reviews of existing evidence on dementia care, and support the development of a STRiDE project dementia evidence toolkit (a searchable database of evaluations of interventions for people with dementia and carers, and plain language summaries of key interventions).

Candidates should have:

  • a PhD, or be working towards completion of a PhD, or have other research experience that demonstrates the capacity to produce independent original research
  • experience of carrying out systematic reviews and meta-analysis (including network meta-analysis)
  • demonstrable ability to collate and synthesise evidence from a range of sources
  • ability and willingness to work as part of a team.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent training and development opportunities.

This appointment is for 24 months. PSSRU will consider an appointment at 0.80 FTE over 30 months, or a job share arrangement for the right candidate.
