About us:

The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) is the principal UK public funder of research on underlying processes in bioscience, covering plant and animal and microbial sciences. The research we fund enhances our understanding and quality of life – from the design of low carbon fuels and renewable chemicals including new drugs and therapies, through improvements in livestock and crop breeding, to food technology.

A vacancy has arisen within the Global Food Security (GFS) team for an Analyst and Review Writer with the ability to show personal initiative and judgement within given constraints to help us deliver the GFS Insight series and other Global Food Security programme activities.

The Analyst and Review Writer leads on the GFS Insight 'practice and policy note' series, which aims to synthesise current knowledge in key food security areas and provide this in an easily accessible format for use by policy-makers and practitioners. You will also work with the Associate Director of the GFS Programme to develop and deliver new work streams, workshops and reports to help meet GFS strategic aims. You will be responsible for managing the Science Advisory Group and its horizon scanning activities, whilst also representing GFS at external meetings and delivering presentations on the work of the programme.

The GFS programme aims to help meet the challenge of providing the world’s growing population with access to safe, affordable and nutritious food, all of the time and in ways the planet can sustain into the future.

Further details on the programme can be found on our website www.foodsecurity.ac.uk.
