Postdoc in Carcass Deformation Modelling of Cellular Meat Production

Technical University of Denmark - Department of Mechanical Engineering

DTU, Department of Mechanical Engineering, the section for Manufacturing Engineering has a vacant position as postdoc in the recently granted Innovation Fund Grand Solutions Project “Augmented Cellular Meat Production” (ACMP). The position is to be filled as soon as possible.

Responsibilities and tasks

The applicant should contribute to the project with the overall task of developing numerical tools for simulating the deformations involved in carcass processing.

The material is of composite nature (interior consisting of muscle tissue, cartilage, and bone) which must be described numerically. Furthermore, the applicant should collaborate with the other partners in the project (internally and externally) in transferring results from the simulations to be applied in augmented reality software.

Qualifications
Candidates should have:

  • A PhD degree or equivalent.
  • Strong competences in computational solid mechanics. This involves finite element analysis with both non-linear geometry and non-linear material behaviour.
  • Knowledge of polymeric material behaviour (preferably tissue or biomaterials).
  • Knowledge of constitutive modelling for application in commercial finite element software packages.
  • General knowledge of meat production and/or biomechanics is an advantage.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
