ITS Desktop Analyst

We are currently looking to recruit an ITS Desktop Analyst, to provide operational and technical support to users of information systems with a primary focus on installing, configuring and maintaining personal computers, servers, printers, telephones, network hardware and peripheral equipment. The post will also be involved in providing support to students and staff by covering the Support Desk function and resolving issues on the telephone, by email and in person, and ensuring system/data integrity is upheld.
 
You will support desktop and laptop computers and the telephone system; resolve faults; install software; set up network and printing services; carry out hardware and software upgrades to computers and printers; set up users in the University identity management system; uphold procedures for incident logging, reporting and generation of statistics; and undertake maintenance of knowledgebase articles. You will have experience of supporting users in a Windows network environment, including an excellent understanding of the following:

• Windows 2003 and 2008
• Microsoft Server (file and print services)
• Microsoft Exchange
• Active Directory
• Windows XP and Windows 7
• Office Suites
• Apple Mac environments.
• Network Drives
• Blackboard
• SITS
• Remote Desktop

You will need to have experience as a regular IT systems user, as well as possessing an understanding of the Higher Education sector, pro-active customer support practices and meeting the needs of University staff and students.  

You’ll be an excellent team player; have excellent time management and organisational skills; will use initiative; be able to work effectively under pressure; and have an ability to think creatively and problem solve.
