KTP Research Associate - Power Electronics and Control Engineer

Location: University Park

Salary: £30,000 to £45,000 per annum depending on skills, qualifications & experience; plus significant training package.

This post is based at Sprint Electric Ltd, Ford, West Sussex

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Engineering PhD/Masters qualified candidates to help Sprint Electric Ltd develop a new range of variable speed drives. This position is a 24 month fixed term contract, with a £4,000 dedicated training budget tailored towards your personal development.

Qualifications we require:

As a minimum you will hold a Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent. A Masters or PhD in Electrical or Electronic would be an advantage. 

The successful candidate must possess:

  • A strong understanding of power electronic converters for motor drive applications.
  • Ability to lead and also work as part of a team.
  • Enthusiasm, motivation and drive to embed new knowledge and to take full ownership of the project.
  • A willingness to travel.

Essential skills we require as a minimum:

  • Relevant experience in the design, simulation, control, construction and testing of Power Converters.
  • Excellent communication skills to provide clear reporting of results in written or verbal form.
  • A knowledge of a practical engineering environment would be an advantage.

About Sprint Electric Ltd:

Sprint Electric design and manufacture DC motor controllers for a wide variety of machine applications, including the manufacture of steel, plastics and paper. They also manufacture a range of AC Drives to control AC slip ring motors that are widely used in crane and lift applications.
