Manchester Metropolitan University

A large and diverse team of technicians ensure that the University functions efficiently and delivers the levels of student experience both our undergraduates and postgraduates deserve and expect of us. We have a vacancy for an experienced CNC machinist with a Turning bias who is able to Program, Set and Operate. This person would also be expected to undertake other general engineering duties such as Waterjet cutting, Fitting and basic Fabrication. They would also provide technical support in a laboratory /classroom environment.

The principle role is to work in an educational environment manufacturing precision components using CAD/CAM processes.

You will have served a recognised apprenticeship, or equivalent and be an experienced engineer. It would be an advantage to be familiar with XYZ machine tools controls such as Protrax, Proturn and HAAS machine tools with Fanuc controls; however, training would be provided on these systems. It would be desirable if you were able to program off-line using OneCNC or a similar CAM package, however training would be given.

An interest in design would also be desirable and training in the use of CAD Solidworks will be given.

If you would like to join our people and share our ambition, we would love to hear from you.
