The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) is driven by the goal of continued improvement and a key element in this strategy is world class knowledge exchange and business engagement activities. This exciting new role will contribute to our excellence in this space, underpinned by our campus based co-location facilities in InfoLab21, The Lancaster Environment Centre and the recently completed Collaborative Technology Access Programme facility (cTAP) a £11.3-million undertaking containing almost £7-million of cutting edge instrumentation. The cTAP facility targets industry engagement in the form of new collaborative and contract research initiatives and will form part of this posts portfolio. Additional facilities associated with Physical Sciences include:

  • Additive Manufacturing Capability
  • The new Isolab research facilities.  This is a suite of 3 ultra-low noise laboratories. It minimises noise vibration and noise/ electromagnetic disturbance to provide one of the most advanced 'ultra-clean' measurement environments in the world.
  • The Quantum Technology Centre containing £4 million worth of nanotechnology equipment, including state-of-the-art clean-room fabrication facilities.

FST seek an experienced individual to lead a team of knowledge exchange professionals providing support across the Physics, Chemistry and Engineering Departments as well as Energy Lancaster and the Material Science Institute. This broad ranging role will lead partnerships and collaborative interactions with SME’s and larger companies regionally, nationally and internationally. The scope for the partnerships will include collaborative research, contract research, the development of professional training programmes, supporting the commercialisation of intellectual property, access to facilities and the co-location of businesses.
