Consensus Action on Salt, Sugar and Health (CASSH) is looking to recruit an outstanding and passionate nutritionist with proven campaigning skills to our ‘Action on Sugar’ team, led by our Chairman, Professor Graham MacGregor, to realise the objectives of the campaign and develop key policy areas related to sugar reduction.

This exciting and unique role will provide an opportunity to be involved with a number of campaigns, including our high profile survey and awareness work for Action on Sugar. CASSH has pioneered a successful salt reduction programme both in the UK and worldwide to reduce blood pressure, and is making great progress in replicating its success for Action on Sugar, to prevent obesity, type 2 diabetes and tooth decay.

The role involves campaigning across a number of key policy areas that contribute to excess sugar consumption, including the government childhood obesity plan, reformulation, sugar levies, marketing and price promotions, and front of pack nutrition labelling. The role provides a great opportunity to work with and influence a number of expert stakeholders including our academic advisors, NGOs, health charities, the Obesity Health Alliance, Public Health England and government departments.

The successful candidate will be pro-active and insightful, with excellent analytical and organisational skills, able to use their initiative, and be a confident public speaker and decision maker. The applicant should be a Nutritionist, with significant experience working in the health campaigning or policy/advocacy sector, and a sound understanding of current issues in the area of public health nutrition. You must have strong attention to detail and computer skills with advanced level in Microsoft Word, Excel and web-editing tools.

This appointment is for one year with potential for renewal. Salary depends on experience and will be in the range £32,956-38,709 FTE per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, final salary pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
