We are seeking an Associate Head of Department –Design for UWE Bristol's School of Art & Design, which is based at Bristol's City Campus in attractive locations that include Bower Ashton Campus, Arnolfini Gallery, Watershed Media Centre and Spike Island Gallery.

This is a particularly exciting time to join the School as we work to develop our portfolio offer in the field of Design.

As Associate Head of Department you will hold key academic leadership responsibility within the university academic management structure. Working with the Head of School you will contribute to the development of a strategy for Design programmes and implement a plan, as well as leading excellence in learning, teaching and research for your cluster of programmes.

The current cluster of programmes within the remit of this role is:

  • BA(Hons) Fashion Textiles
  • BA(Hons) Interior Design
  • MA Design
  • MA/ MfA Printmaking
  • MA Curating

Other fields within the School of Art and Design include Art and Design Communication and you will be expected to work closely with their respective Associate Heads, as well as Associate Head for Research and Associate Head for Partnership.

You will:

  • Be qualified to graduate level in a subject relevant to Art and Design practice.
  • Be qualified to postgraduate level or equivalent professional experience as a practitioner/designer.
