Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Marketing

Grade 8/9 (£39,992 - £47,722/£50,618 - £56,950)

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to enhance the excellence in teaching and research in the area of Marketing within the School of Social Sciences and the University of Dundee School of Business. Preference will be given to candidates who have an interest in Marketing Management, Branding, Consumer Behaviour, Digital and Social Media Marketing, Marketing Analytics, Consumer Profiling and Entrepreneurial and International Marketing.

Summary of Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential criteria for those wishing to be considered for a grade 8 appointment

  • PhD in a relevant subject or closely aligned areas of study
  • Clear evidence of excellence in University learning and teaching
  • Experience of teaching marketing
  • Experience of setting, marking, assessing work and examinations and providing feedback to students
  • Experience of supervision of undergraduate and/or taught postgraduate student projects
  • Develop research objectives, project and proposals
  • Conduct individual or collaborative research projects
  • Ability to identify sources of funding and contribute to the process of securing funds
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of ability and willingness to work collaboratively with others
  • Evidence of effective team membership
  • Ability to prioritise and balance competing demands

Additional Essential criteria for those wishing to be considered for a grade 9 appointment

  • Track record of developing and applying innovative and appropriate teaching techniques and material which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students
  • A record of high quality publications at 3-4* ratings (internationally excellent and world-leading) consistent with the criteria provided in the UK’s Research Excellence Framework
  • Experience of successful supervision of PhD research students
  • Ability to take a proactive approach to the development of research strategies
  • Clear potential for leadership of an internationally recognized research group
    Commitment to mentoring early career/less experienced researchers

Desirable:

Desirable criteria for those wishing to be considered for a grade 8 appointment

  • Experience of curriculum development and review
  • Experience of successful international recruitment
  • Experience of Public Engagement
  • Membership of the Higher Education Academy

Additional desirable criteria for those wishing to be considered for a grade 9 appointment

  • Experience of providing academic leadership to a programme or area of study by coordinating and organising a team
  • Experience of maintaining and enhancing links with the professional institutions and other related bodies
