The Games Academy at Falmouth University is looking for an excellent games Designer to join our teaching team at either Lecturer or Senior lecturer level (commensurate with experience). The BA(Hons) Game Design at Falmouth University has a unique multi-disciplinary approach to teaching games which aims to simulate a studio environment. The ideal candidate has experience working in the games industry in a design or technical design role, with experience of game development and solving problems related design in a games context, as well as a strong desire to share practice and methods with students. They will be versatile, and be able to contribute to a teaching team which spans multiple different disciplines, encompassing both academics and games industry professionals.

The successful candidate will teach across several modules of the BA Game Design, as well as support students in the building of game projects on other modules. Personal tutor responsibilities also form part of this role.

Essential:

  • Experience working as a designer/technical designer in a games context
  • Strong, high quality portfolio demonstrating varied abilities
  • Strong communicator
  • Team Player
  • Confidence with implementation in game engines, with a focus on Unity and Unreal

Desirable:

  • Teaching / training experience
  • Confidence with implementation in Unreal and Unity Game Engines
  • Experience using agile development to deliver software.
  • Experience writing detailed design documents and undertaking game balancing.
