Grade - Full time starting salary is normally in the range £49,148 to £56,950. With potential progression once in post to £74,259 a year.

The University of Birmingham Higher Education Futures institute (HEFi) is a new, sector-leading institute focused on learning and teaching in higher education. The institute will undertake research to inform University and sector teaching practice; expand digital education capabilities in delivery, learner analytics and TNE; support academic staff training; and deliver new signature ‘living lab’ and micro CPD programmes for all staff.

HEFi’s strategic aims are to:

  • Deliver sector-leading research that has an impact on research-led higher education learning.
  • Design and deliver desirable academic development that positively impacts the student experience.
  • Embed digital learning implicitly within the staff and student experience.
  • Develop the institutions profile and reach to influence sector policy and practice in educational development, both internally and externally.

The University is seeking to appoint a Director of Operations who will lead on the creation, administration, operation, and business development of the institute, including responsibility for all Professional Services staff within HEFi (approximately 30 staff). Reporting to the Director of Registry and Academic Affairs, the post-holder will work closely with the Academic Director of HEFi, the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) and other senior staff from across the Corporate Services of the University.
