Location: Trinity Centre for Health Sciences at St James’s Hospital; Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI), Lloyd Building, Trinity College Dublin; and St James’s Hospital, Dublin 8
Salary: This appointment will be made on the HSE New Entrant Type A, Academic Consultant salary scale at a point in line with current Government pay policy (and will be commensurate with experience)

Post summary

Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin, and St James’s Hospital seek to appoint an Associate Professor/Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry. The post will be based at the Trinity Centre for Health Sciences at St James’s Hospital; the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI), Lloyd Building, Trinity College Dublin; and St James’s Hospital, Dublin 8. The successful candidate will lead in dementia care and prevention as part of GBHI.

The successful applicant will have a distinguished reputation in research in the field of old age psychiatry and will be expected to provide leadership in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the Discipline of Psychiatry and in interdisciplinary teaching, in mentoring and supervising GBHI Scholars and Fellows, in addition to clinical responsibility. This post provides an exciting opportunity to lead developments in the area of brain health and dementia care and in relevant research clusters, which are of strategic focus for the School of Medicine, GBHI and St James’s Hospital.

The appointee will be able to avail of an outstanding environment for research and scholarly endeavour, and will be expected to engage with new research initiatives within the School of Medicine and GBHI. The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources including MISA, the Trinity Translational Medicine Institute (TTMI), Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute (TBSI) and Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience (TCIN).
