Research Data Manager

Applicants are invited for a Research Data Manager position in the Department of Social Science (DSS) which houses the Centre for Longitudinal Studies (CLS). 

The Centre has responsibility for four of Britain's internationally renowned cohort studies which follow individuals throughout their lives.

The studies involve multiple surveys, with specialized forms of data collection (for example physical measurements) and linkages to administrative records.

This full-time appointment will be available immediately from March 2018 until 31st March 2020 in the first instance.

The role provides an excellent opportunity for an individual interested in the effective management of survey research data. Data management at CLS uses a combination of SIR ( and PostgreSQL databases, R, SPSS and Python. You will have a good understanding of the preparation of complex longitudinal data for research purposes, an interest in interdisciplinary research in the social sciences and be committed to the provision of high quality, well-documented data, structured to facilitate research.

Candidates should have an MSc or equivalent experience in a quantitative social science or related discipline. They will have experience managing social science data preferably using relational databases and be able to manage data using code/syntax in statistical packages. They will also have experience automating, streamlining and improving processes using tools/technologies such as R or Python.

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £34,635 - £41,864 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
