Research Assistant

A Research Assistant post is available in the Department of Medicine, working with Dr HP Mok, Dr Mark Wills and Professor Andrew Lever, to study HIV latency. The successful candidate will be part of a larger group in the Department studying persistent virus infection and the immune response. The initial focus of the work is to manage and carry out viral outgrowth assays on blood samples from patients with HIV. This is in association with a clinical trial of a new approach to eradicating HIV. Given the nature of clinical trials there may be some need for occasional out of hours work. The appointee will be encouraged to become involved in research projects associated with this study. The position is available immediately and finishes in September 2018.

Applicants should have a degree and ideally some experience in tissue culture, preferably at CL2, and virus handling. Training for work at CL3 will be provided.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 September 2018 in the first instance.
