Senate House Library has outstanding humanities and social science research collections of national importance. As the central library for the University of London, and the home library for the School of Advanced Study, it facilitates and supports research excellence.

The Role

The post holder will have overall responsibility for the cataloguing, classification, relegation and withdrawal of library collections, and implementation of policy and strategy in these areas. They will also be responsible for the development, implementation and use of standards and quality controls within the metadata team.

To be successful in this post, you must have experience of working in an academic library in a professional role. You will also need good interpersonal skills, as demonstrated by the ability to build relationships and partnerships and negotiate appropriately. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles and application of any relevant national and international standards, including MARC2, AACR2 and LCSH is essential to this role.
