Head of Technical Services

University of Hull - Faculty of Health Sciences - Faculty of Health Sciences Office

Campus: Hull

We have an opportunity to join the new Faculty of Health Sciences as our first Head of Technical Services.

The Faculty was formed in 2017 and consists of three schools: Life Sciences, Health and Social Work and the Hull-based elements of the Hull York Medical School (a partnership with the University of York). We are a new and ambitious organisation and our activities cover a broad estate in the University including the brand new Allam Medical Building and a range of research facilities hosted in NHS partners.

This is a new role, which will provide strong leadership for technical services across the Faculty and provide strategic oversight of our space, specialist facilities, Health & Safety management, technical staffing and investment plans. You can make a huge contribution to supporting our strategies for teaching and research by developing infrastructure and services across the Faculty. You will also work closely with peers in other Faculties and University departments and directorates to promote co-ordinated technical services of a high standard, which are financially and technologically sustainable and a great place in which to work.

You will need to have substantial knowledge and experience in a range of fields, including space management, the costing and operation of specialist facilities, Health & Safety governance and practice and the development of revenue and capital investment plans. You will also need to show the leadership ability to bring together our technical staff and specialists to form a strong, well-supported team.

This is a great opportunity to develop your career in a new and vibrant Faculty.

For an informal discussion, please contact John Busby, Faculty Business Manager (J.Busby@hull.ac.uk).
