Thoroughly international in its approach, The School offers exciting undergraduate and postgraduate courses including English, creative writing, journalism, modern languages, international relations, history, politics and sociology. This post teaching on the History course underpins this ethos and the enhancement of teaching and learning activities in the School. The successful candidate will be leading the delivery of modules examining the rise of the modern state in Europe and the history of the Atlantic World in the 19th and 20th centuries.

As a result of expansion, we are seeking an academic and active practitioner with an established profile in History to join our thriving innovative courses. Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent professional status and be able to demonstrate the ability to relate research led learning in History into teaching contexts. In addition, applicants must have the ability to teach across practice and theory, and a proven track record of delivering a first-class student experience within a higher education environment, having been actively engaged in teaching at HE level. Experience of education innovation would clearly be advantageous.   

The post-holder must have a proven track record of exploring new and emerging modes of practice and scholarship and be actively engaged in professional practice, applied research and income generation in the broad area of History.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate digital fluency and a continuing engagement with professional, scholarly and pedagogic development - those without a teaching qualification will be required to undertake Coventry University’s PGCHE or secure a HEA fellowship.
