Xi'an Jiaotong - Liverpool University – The Business School

Applications are invited for a position in the International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. The school has a wide range of research and taught degree programmes at all level (UG, PG, MBA, PhD) in the fields of Accounting, Finance, Economics, and Management. It currently has 120 academic staff and over 4,500 students, and is growing every year. This is an exciting opportunity to a fast growing ambitious business school which is AACSB accredited and located in the vibrant city of Suzhou surrounded by Fortune 500 companies and “next door” to Shanghai, one of the major financial centres in the world. In addition to AACSB accreditation, other successful accreditations within IBSS have been obtained, such as those from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and CPA Australia for BA Accounting programme and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) for MSc Professional Accounting programme. BA Accounting programme at IBSS is the first undergraduate programme in China to have obtained both 9 ACCA exemptions and 12 CIMA exemptions.

Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) is a unique collaborative institution, the first and currently the only university in China to offer both UK (University of Liverpool) and Chinese (Ministry of Education) accredited degrees. The language of instruction is English. Applicants from any area in accounting and finance are welcome. We particularly welcome those accounting applicants who have a teaching interest in corporate reporting, auditing, and UK taxation and finance applicants who have a teaching interest in risk management, corporate finance and governance, portfolio theory, fixed income, financial derivatives and financial institutions.

Successful applicants will have a PhD in accounting or finance, and/or be able to demonstrate appropriate professional experience. Successful applicants will have teaching experience and evidence of the ability or potential to produce high quality research publications. Applicants with professional experience and professional qualifications (ICAEW/ACCA/CIMA/CFA/FRM and other equivalent qualifications), who are not currently active in research, will also be considered.

Candidates for the position of Associate Professor should have a strong track record of excellence in teaching and academic supervision, as well as an international research profile in their field and/or a successful record of research funding. We strongly welcome applicants who are internationally renowned academics with a research interest in corporate governance, contemporary accounting issues, and corporate finance.

The salary range for the position is 19,971 RMB/month to 44,546 RMB/month. In addition, members of academic staff are entitled to accommodation and travel allowances, medical insurance, and relocation expenses. Overseas staff may receive a tax “holiday” of up to three years, depending on nationality and personal circumstances.
