The Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment at Oxford Brookes has an international reputation for excellence, innovation and creativity. Our constituent schools and departments deliver a rich and diverse portfolio of taught courses and research programmes spanning a wide range of disciplines including architecture, arts, computing and engineering.

We are seeking an experienced Research Manager who is able to contribute to the strategic direction of Research and Knowledge Exchange in the Faculty, and build on our success in securing external funding. Working closely with the Associate Dean: Research and Knowledge Exchange, the post-holder will lead a team delivering faculty-wide support for external funding applications, consultancy and other knowledge exchange activities and for our postgraduate research students.

Demonstrating an understanding of the current issues in Higher Education, and with experience of supporting complex external funding bids, the Research Manager will play a critical role in the preparation and submission of REF2021. Able to build strong working relationships with stakeholders across the Faculty, the wider University and externally; the Research Manager will represent the faculty on a range of cross-university committees and groups where they will demonstrate the ability to contribute to and influence strategic direction and business implementation.

The successful candidate will be qualified to degree level or equivalent, and, among others, will have the following experience, skills and attributes:

  • Good knowledge and understanding of HE systems and procedures for academic and student research
  • Support research administration
  • Knowledge of the funding culture for the relevant faculty
  • Experience of administering external funding applications
  • Successful supervision of staff
  • Effective Team working
