By 2020, Birmingham City University’s trio of Innovation institutes (Institute of Sustainable Futures, Institute of Health & Quality of Life and the Institute for Creative Innovation aim to increase enterprise, drive growth and help businesses/not for profit organisations in securing a competitive advantage through demand led innovation and effective partnerships.

A track record with proven experience in securing income with various funding bodies is sought. Working within the Innovation Team, the selected candidate will support the vision and ethos that drives the partnerships, ideas, interdisciplinary thinking and infrastructure to transform BCU’s contribution to the regional skills and growth agenda and underpin the achievement of BCU’s external income, employability and regional impact as defined by the corporate plan.

The selected candidate will be part of a highly specialised team that will work in close collaboration with lead academics, in developing concepts, writing and managing the submission of proposals targeting funding bodies within the UK, EU and overseas. Taking responsibility for brokering collaborative partnerships and multi stakeholder opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with a variety of funding instruments and be experienced in identifying and disseminating funding opportunities to support the Innovation Institutes thematic areas to drive income generation; contract research and collaborative research. It is paramount that the selected candidate will need to provide high level expert guidance to proposal development teams comprised of academic leads, innovation institutes, finance teams, and external partners throughout the development process from concept, project initiation, writing to submission. A track record with proven experience in securing income with various funding bodies is sought.
