Teaching Fellow – Nutrition & Dietetics

Imperial College London - Department of Medicine

(0.6 FTE)

Campus: Hammersmith

The Department of Medicine is committed to the development and delivery of excellent education and training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and to the continuing professional development of its staff.

The Department has the responsibility for delivering 6 MSc programmes and 4 MRes programmes plus an expanding portfolio of Short Courses. It supports the MBBS programme with the delivery of core taught components including 6 intercalated BSc streams. In addition, it hosts streams of the Faculty of Medicine MRes in Biomedical Research and modules in other Masters programmes including the MSc Genomic Medicine.

The Department also supports approximately 300 scientists and clinicians studying for doctoral degrees (PhD or MD(Res)).

The post-holder will provide support for the teaching within the Nutrition & Dietetics programme, providing a point of contact for students and teaching staff, and to contribute to teaching, assessment, administration and pastoral support.

Applicants should have a PhD, MSc or MRes in a relevant subject area, and have or be working towards a recognised teaching qualification. Previous teaching experience in higher education and/or a clinical setting is essential, as is an understanding of assessment in terms of professional and academic achievement.

Candidates need to have excellent written and oral communication skills including accurate grammar, spelling and punctuation. They need to be well organised, able to prioritise and work to deadlines with little day to day supervision. As well as working autonomously, showing initiative and flexibility, they need to be able to work cooperatively with others.

This is a 0.6 FTE role, with an open-ended contract but will require some flexibility at busy times of the academic year as teaching is done in module blocks.
