Chief Technology Officer

Swansea University - Engineering

Salary: £15,996 to £19,088 per annum on a 0.4FTE contract (full time equivalent to £39,992 to £47,722 per annum.)

ASTUTE EAST will build on the most successful aspects of the previous ASTUTE project (2010-2015) but taking a more focussed and concentrated approach. The operation will be closely linked with the West Wales and the Valleys based ASTUTE 2020.

The World Class Engineering and Science capabilities in Welsh Universities (evidenced by the Research Excellence Framework 2014) have been further extended with the recent appointment of staff in the area of Future Manufacturing Technologies. These are under-pinned by the three Adaptive Smart Specialisations:

  • Computational Engineering Modelling,
  • Advanced Materials Technologies, and
  • Manufacturing Systems Engineering

which will be used to further develop and embed Advanced and Sustainable Technologies into High Value Manufacturing across East Wales via collaborative R&D projects.

The operation will be a major contributor to a growing Welsh Innovation Ecosystem in the Welsh Government Grand Challenge of Advanced Engineering and Materials.

The ASTUTE EAST (Advanced Sustainable Manufacturing Technologies) operation has been part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government and the participating Higher Education Institutions.
