Do you want to use your biological expertise to develop and implement novel technology and approaches for the characterisation of biopharmaceutical products and standards? We are looking for an NMR Spectroscopist to join Technology, development and infrastructure in the NIBSC division.

A centre of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, The National Institute for Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC) is a global leader in the characterisation, standardisation and control of biological medicines.

You will provide control work on bacterial polysaccharides used in vaccine production (Hib, MenC, pneumococcal, typhoid etc.) to the ISO17025 standard within UKAS accreditation. You will prepare and run NMR samples, be able to manipulate the resultant spectra within the Bruker TopSpin software and interpret the data to characterise novel products.

You should be able to successfully trouble shoot any problems, and provide support for development of standards in this area. You will offer support to colleagues in other departments (e.g. Biotherapeutics and Bacteriolog) requiring NMR analysis.

You will be educated to a doctoral level in biological sciences or a related discipline, or have equivalent qualifications/relevant work experience.
