This post is based in the Genetics and Genomic Medicine programme at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health London and is funded by the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity for 36 months in the first instance.

This new post is suitable for an ambitious and hard-working post-doctoral candidate, being created at a time of many exciting discoveries in the field of rare skin diseases. The labs involved are at the forefront of research in this field and on an upward trajectory.

The Kinsler (Molecular Genetics) and Di (Cell Biology) labs are recruiting jointly to this position to act as a post-doctoral research associate under both PIs, although Dr Kinsler will be the direct line manager for administrative purposes. This will allow the post-holder exposure to a broad range of molecular genetics’, cell biology and in vivo modelling techniques relevant to skin diseases.

Some post-doctoral experience in a relevant field is required.

Hands-on experience in the following techniques: primary cell culture, DNA, RNA and protein extraction, PCR, Sanger sequencing, qRT-PCR, cloning, siRNA knockdown, expression system use, tissue processing, immunostaining, histology, western blot and image capture.

Successful candidate should have experience of writing peer-reviewed papers.

Advanced laboratory experience is essential, as well as good organisational skills. The post holder will be expected to work closely and collaboratively with other members of the two research groups.

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £34,635 – £40,737 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
