Electron Microscope Technician (Ultrastructural Pathology)

This new role provides an exciting opportunity to join the Centre for Ultrastructural Imaging (CUI), King’s state-of-the –art electron microscopy unit. The successful applicant will benefit not only from a recent multi-million investment in the Centre’s equipment and facilities, but also from partnerships and collaborations spanning NHS Trusts, research institutes, and instrument manufacturers.

The main purpose of this role is to provide technical expertise in sample preparation and electron microscopy (EM) imaging to support three main areas of the Centre’s work:

  • Delivery of clinical diagnostic services in renal ultrastructural pathology;
  • Development of new ultrastructural pathology services;
  • Development of clinical research opportunities.

The successful applicant will have practical, hands-on expertise in EM, combined with good knowledge of sample preparation, EM methods and procedures applicable to diagnostic ultrastructural pathology and clinical research. They will have experience of delivering clinical diagnostic services and / or supporting research collaborations.

The selection process will include competency based questions, a presentation and a panel interview. Interviews are expected to take place in late February 2018.
