Development Assistant (2 posts available)

The University of Manchester - Professional Support Services, Development & Alumni Relations Division

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fundraising team at the University of Manchester.

The University of Manchester is the UK’s largest single-site university and has more alumni than any other UK institution. This is a place where research has a global impact, where students experience outstanding teaching and learning, helping them to develop into tomorrow’s leaders, and where all activity is enriched by a commitment to social responsibility.

This is a key role within the Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DDAR), which provides alumni and donors with exciting and novel opportunities to engage with and support the University.  With well-developed and extensive alumni engagement and philanthropic programmes, DDAR has ambitious plans to increase gift income and alumni engagement over the next five years, to support even more deserving students and researchers at the University.

This post provides assistance to the Development Team in the initiation and development of programmes and strategies to enhance relationships with alumni, donors and prospective donors.  You will provide strategic support across the team including major gifts, regular giving, legacy fundraising, communications and stewardship and you will be instrumental in ensuring that development activities are fully recorded on the Raiser’s Edge database.

With proven administrative experience in a busy office environment, you will be self-motivated, a team player and able to prioritise your own workload. You will also have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a friendly customer focused approach and a positive attitude to problem solving.

Visit to get a feel for our philanthropic priorities and decide whether you could be the right person to join the team.

Please note that there are two roles available, with two different job descriptions (please see Further Particulars documents below). Applicants will be considered for both Development Assistant roles available.

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status.  All appointments are made on merit.
