UWE Bristol operates a competitive Professorial Performance and Reward Scheme with a salary range of £60,173 - £86,889. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Sociology and Criminology team within the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences is seeking to appoint a Professor to conduct research and provide leadership that aligns with the Faculty’s research strategy.

This post offers an exciting opportunity to work within the interdisciplinary Department of Health and Social Sciences and make a major contribution to the development of the department’s growing profile in research, teaching and community engagement.

We believe research is central to everything we do. We have a vibrant research culture, including a Social Sciences Research Group, which contains strong Sociology and Criminology themes. There are over 30 Sociology and Criminology staff, and specific areas of interest include Cultural Sociology; Inequalities and Difference (gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, faith, migration-status); Policing and offender management; and Social vulnerability (hate crime, sexual violence, drug use).

The successful applicant will be eligible for the REF, with expertise in one or more of the areas noted above. As the successful applicant you will have a substantial national and international record demonstrating subject expertise, excellence and achievement. You will be able to show a strong track record and ongoing achievement of: successful bidding for external research funding; producing high quality contributions to knowledge in terms of your published work; and leading research development initiatives.
