The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £38,581 - £41,864 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

Teaching Fellow: Ancient Middle East The Department seeks to appoint a Teaching Fellow to offer, in the first instance, the following modules:

HIST61xx: Babylon from Hammurabi to Alexander (1800-300BC) An undergraduate survey course, taught over 20 weeks through weekly lecture and tutorials, to a cohort of up to 45 students.

HIST2111: Hittite Empire or HIST2108: Early Mesopotamia. A thematic module taught to two groups (each of 15 undergraduate students), over 20 weeks, through two hour seminars.

HIST7122: Ancient Anatolia through Material Culture. An advanced module taught over 10 weeks (up to 15 undergraduate students), once in term one and once in term two.

HIST2900: Research Seminar Ten 2-hour seminars in term two, designed to develop undergraduate students' capacity to work independently and to use primary and secondary sources.

Other duties and responsibilities include (but are not confined to) one session teaching on each of the MA core course and BA Ancient World Studies; dissertation supervision and marking for a cohort of both BA and MA students; and acting as Personal Tutor to c.20 undergraduates.

The appointment is funded for 12 months, in the first instance, from 01 September 2018.

Candidates must have a PhD in a relevant field. They must also have experience in undergraduate and graduate teaching and assessment.
