Mechanical Workshop Technician

The Department of Civil, Environmental & Geomatic Engineering is searching for an innovative and enterprising person to fill the role of Technician to support the teaching and research activities in the department. You will be joining our team of technicians in the departments workshop and laboratory facilities.You would need to be prepared to work flexibly, responding to the needs of the department as they arise. The successful candidate will be providing support at various times to Structures group, Fluid Mechanics, Geomatics, Geotechnics, Concrete Technology, Environmental Engineering the Transport/Accessibility group laboratory at Tufnell Park and the teaching and research facility Here East in Stratford as necessary. You will also need to support occasional field trips. Some are one day; others can be up to a week. You will need to have served a recognised apprenticeship/training scheme with several years post apprenticeship experience and attained relevant qualifications.

The post is available with immediate effect.

We are looking for someone with extensive mechanical workshop skills (Toolmaking/Instrument making etc.), capable of working in a research and development environment. Familiarity with fault finding/repair of electronic equipment and Autocad/Inventor would be an advantage.
