Library Assistant (fixed-term role)

University of Bath - Library

The University of Bath Library is seeking to fill a temporary Library Assistant vacancy based within the Issue Desk team. This is a full-time post, working 36.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, and is expected to run until 17 July 2018.
The post requires excellent customer service skills, working in a busy Library environment and applicants should be able to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team.
You will be working with other Library Assistants and Senior Library Assistants, under the direction of the Reader Services Librarian, to provide all Issue Desk services, and support for other areas of work within the library.  The role is physically demanding as Library Assistants are expected to retrieve books from low baskets for processing, and to manoeuvre heavy trolleys in and around working areas.
You must be proficient in the use of IT systems, as all Issue Desk and Library procedures require the use of software applications.
Previous experience in library and customer service work is highly desirable.
The successful applicant will join a dedicated, professional team of Library staff committed to the continual development of services to support the University’s strategy: to deliver world-class research and teaching, extend the University’s international influence, and enrich the student experience.  We understand the importance of continued professional development for all Library staff in order to achieve this, and provide programmes of local opportunities and support involvement in appropriate external activities.
Interviews are expected to be held on 31 January 2018.
For an informal enquiries about the post please contact Chris Roberts, Reader Services Librarian (01225 386082 or
