Applications are invited for the post of Post-Doctoral Research Associate. The successful applicant will join a collaborative research programme led by Professors Rachael Pearson and Robin Ali, examining the potential for retinal repair and regeneration by photoreceptor replacement.

Working in close collaboration with other team members, the post holder will be working on the development and application of photoreceptor transplantation methods, particularly focusing on graft/host interactions. (S)he will use a combination of bioengineering, stem cell biology and developmental biology to promote the functional interaction between stem cell-derived retinal tissue and the diseased host retina. In addition, the post holder may be asked to participate in other projects within the gene and cell therapy group.

The position is funded for a period of 18 months in the first instance.

The successful applicant has a post-doctoral degree in a relevant subject, has shown commitment to high quality research and is able to work to a high standard. Previous experience in regenerative medicine is highly desirable. Experience working with transplantation, neurodegeneration and/or bioengineering would be advantageous.

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £34,635 - £37,551 per annum., inclusive of London Allowance.
