Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the Thermofluids Division

Starting salary: Lecturer: £46,970 to £52,350 per annum

Senior Lecturer: no less than £57,710 per annum

The Department of Mechanical Engineering seeks outstanding applications for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer academic position within the Thermofluids Division. The division has, over four decades, established an internationally leading record in pure and applied research into combustion, heat and mass transfer and fluid flow. Our research spans: simulation of inert mixing problems, aeroacoustics, combusting flows and multi-phase problems; application of experimental techniques to combustion, fire and two-phase flows applied to fundamental studies and engines. The appointment is opened to all areas of thermofluids; we are seeking candidates able to collaborate with one or more groups within the Thermofluids Division

Our faculty have access to world-class interdisciplinary opportunities, including extensive state-of-the-art facilities housed on campus. These include two recently refurbished thermofluids laboratories with cutting-edge facilities and accompanying advanced instrumentation. The ability of the division to undertake combined experimental and computational modelling studies is a distinct aspect of its capabilities.

  • Applicants are required to have a doctorate (or equivalent) in a relevant field as well as having a strong background and education in thermal sciences and fluid mechanics.
  • An outstanding research record in your area of expertise, as demonstrated by your publications is essential.  
  • We seek excellent communicators that have the ability to initiate and lead teaching activities and be able to demonstrate innovation in teaching delivery, course design and assessment.
  • You will be expected to take an active role in the organisation of the Departments teaching activity across all years and subject areas.
