Wellbeing Advisor (Mental Health)

Accountable to: Deputy Wellbeing Service Manager       

Accountable for: This job description is indicative, not prescriptive, and the balance of duties will be in accordance with the contract of employment.

Role Summary:

To provide advice and guidance to students with a range of disabilities in relation to access and inclusion to educational opportunities in line with equalities legislation.

To liaise with academic teams to promote the delivery of an inclusive learning environment.

To develop new initiatives to support students to self-manage their wellbeing issues.

To liaise with external agencies, including statutory services and make referrals for specialist help and support for students with complex needs and/or students in crisis.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • To manage a caseload of students with mental health issues and/or disabilities providing advice and guidance in relation to access and inclusion matters.
  • To guide students through the Disabled Students' Allowance application process ensuring all support recommendations are implemented across the institution.
  • To create Individual Support Plans for disabled students ensuring reasonable adjustments are communicated to relevant staff.
  • To liaise with academic colleagues supporting them to make adjustments to their teaching, assessment and placement opportunities working towards an inclusive learning and/or working environment.
