This is an exciting opportunity and you will play a key role in further progressing the enhancement of teaching and educational excellence across the University, including our international partnerships and campuses. 

As Head of Educational Development, you will work closely with the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education), and the Director of HR and OD (who will also be your line manager), and others, to drive forward the implementation of relevant aspects of the existing People Strategy and the newly developed Education Strategy at Lancaster and with our internal partnerships and campuses. In recognition of our international strategic insight, we were runners up in the CIPD People Management Awards 2017 for the best international HR initiative. You will be based within the HR and Organisational Development function which consists of over 50 colleagues who provide a broad range of HR, OD, Heath & Safety, learning and development and Educational Development services to the University. These services are provided to circa 3400 employees, with some based overseas. 

As well as leading an Educational Development Team and overseeing the delivery of quality Educational Development Programmes and interventions, you will also have the remit to identify and cultivate educational development synergies across the institution and facilitate the building of capacity in Educational Development across the whole University, including international partnerships.

To be successful in this role, you will be a Senior Fellow of the HEA and will hold a good honours degree and preferably hold a PhD, professional doctorate or equivalent. You will have significant and demonstrable experience of education and staff development at a senior level, preferably in a Higher Education context and will have strong leadership, management and organisational skills. You will have an emerging or established profile within the educational/staff development community with clear academic credibility, and will have an understanding of the technology enhanced learning environment in higher education, both domestically and internationally.
