Head of Placements & Graduate Outcomes

University of Leicester - Career Development Service

The University of Leicester is embarking on a period of unprecedented change with an ambitious and renewed strategic vision. In order to build on our strengths we are developing a strategy that will enable us to achieve our expectations and ambitions. We are passionate about developing our students and providing a market leading service to our employer partners. Every student counts at Leicester and this role will play a key role in building routes to market, so every student can find the right kind of opportunity to allow them to fulfil their potential.

A superb opportunity has become available within our award winning Career Development Service to welcome a new Head of Placements and Graduate Outcomes into the team. It will be the responsibility of the Head to lead all strategic and operational aspects of the Career Development Service in relation to placements and graduate outcomes. The purpose of this leadership role is to provide all University of Leicester students with the support and opportunities they need to gain significant experience (placements and internships) and go on to secure the graduate job or further study offer that they want. This will involve close working with stakeholder groups including academic departments, employers, Students Union and alumni.

You will be responsible for the implementation of the employability vision and strategy – working closely with leadership to ensure that the vision is realised and so to ensure the University’s performance in graduate destinations complements its performance in other league table indicators.

As a visible and influential member of our team, we will rely on you to build long lasting, impactful and mutually beneficial relationships with local, national and international employers. You will take responsibility for the line management of the placement and graduate outcomes teams to ensure they are clear of what is expected of them and have the appropriate support to deliver their part of the employability vision and strategy.

As the successful applicant, you will join us with significant experience in a management role, preferably in higher education or a graduate recruitment context. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to apply strategic thinking, vision and analytical skills and will be confident in your ability translate strategy into achievable and measurable operational outcomes. This role requires an individual with excellent interpersonal skills who can establish effective working relationships with colleagues, academic staff, students, employers, suppliers and others both inside and outside the university.

Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Rob Fryer, Director of the Career Development Service on Rob.fryer@le.ac.uk or 0116 373 6265.
